No Document Control Responsibility- Human Resources Approved by- Sheriff Position Summary The Warren County Justice Center Security Officer performs entrance control for the public and employees.
The Officer enforces the entry and identification system which includes operating security screening equipment to detect weapons, contraband, and prohibited items, checking handbags, purses, briefcases, backpacks, computers, packages, etc.
The Officer patrols the Justice Center and grounds of the facility as needed.
The Officer also sorts mail delivered to the front desk and will complete other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions Security monitoring.
Basic computer skills.
Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
Accurately document incidents with reports containing clear, concise, and complete information in chronological order.
Remain calm in stressful situations.
Quickly recognize behavior problems or security concerns and take immediate action to intervene.
Enforce rules and regulations firmly and fairly.
Follow standard operating procedures.
Analyze data and reach logical conclusions.
Meet the physical and psychological standards set forth by the County Sheriff.
Successfully complete training requirements as defined by the Sheriff's Office general orders and the Iowa Administrative Code.
Participate in physical restraint of hostile, aggressive, combative prisoners, or members of the public.
Frequently walk up/downstairs.
Occasionally lift 75 lbs.
floor to waist, and occasionally lift 15 lbs.
floor to shoulder.
Communicate using a two-way radio.
Education, Skills, and Experience 18 years of age or older.
Able to meet any additional criteria established by state and federal law which would allow the applicant to be certified to the IOWA (Iowa On-Line Warrants and Articles) system and the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) system.
A criminal background check is required.
Candidate may be required to pass a post-employment offer physical capacity test to ensure candidate meets the essential physical requirements of the position.
CPR/AED and First Aid training is required within six months of hire.
A drug screen and physical are required prior to final offer of employment.
A valid State of Iowa driver's license is required.
Able to qualify yearly with a handgun.
